Pakistan Education and Research Network (PERN & PERN 2)

Pakistan Education and Research Network (PERN)  is  a project of Higher Education Commission launched in 2002 with a view to integrate Pakistan’s education system by linking all public and private sector universities/degree awarding institutions.  PERN aimed to inter-connect all universities/DAIs to provide access of data banks, research and development activities and of teaching and learning skills.  The HEC also launched PERN-2 network for universities/DAIs and other academic sectors of country to provide a fast communication infrastructure for students, teachers and researchers. PERN-2 ( also called National Research & Education Network –NERN) is to be connected with other such networks of world e.g. APAN Asia, Internet 2 USA, GEANT 2 Europe etc.
