The HEC has been forced to take the decision not to recognize the degrees of students of Al-Khair University admitted after April 30th, 2009 in light of the fact that the Al-Khair University, chartered in 1994, has not established a proper main campus in AJ&K that fulfills the minimum requirements set in the Cabinet Criteria and guidelines for establishment of a new university. The university is offering degree programmes in professional disciplines such as law, pharmacy, electrical engineering, homeopathy etc. and is not meeting the minimum criteria for accreditation required by the respective accreditation bodies. Over the years the President AJ&K has also directed the university to meet the standards for the provision of quality education, build the requisite infrastructure and hire necessary faculty members.
