BP Chevening Award / Scholarship 2009/10

BP p.l.c. (third largest oil company of UK) has announced BP Chevening Award for students of M.Sc. in Energy Studies at Dundee University’s Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP).

The award will offer the successful candidate:


1.A sponsored place on the MSc in Energy Studies degree
2.  Payment of academic tuition fees
3.  12 monthly stipends for living expenses for a single student
4.  An arrival allowance and thesis/assignment allowance


Applicants eligible for consideration should:

 

·     hold a degree of an equivalent standard to at least a good UK second class honours degree

·     Be able to demonstrate a high level of English language competence (minimum of 100 on the Internet Based Test)

·     Display intellectual ability and leadership potential

·     Preferably be qualified lawyers having had some post-degree work experience in mining in the government, private sector, or academia

·     Be a national and resident of the following countries at the time of applying for the award:
Algeria, Angola, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Bolivia, Brazil, China, Colombia, Egypt, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Oman, Pakistan, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Venezuela and Vietnam

·     Complete the degree within 12 months and return to their home country at the end of their period of study

·     Not already have received or be currently receiving financial benefit from a previous HMG (Her Majesty's Government) Funded Scholarship


Method of Scholarship Selection


There is no separate application form for the BP Chevening Scholarship. All candidates who are offered admission to the MSc In Energy Studies and who satisfy the criteria for consideration for the Scholarship, will be put forward for review by the relevant Committee composed of BP plcs, FCO and CEPMLP staff.

The first step, therefore, is to complete an application form for admission to the MSc in Energy Studies in Dandee University. In addition to the online application, candidates should submit to Kathleen Shortt: at k.a.shortt@dundee.ac.uk a brief statement, max. 250 words, explaining why student think that he/she should be considered for the scholarship.


All applications must be received by the 31 May 2009.
