Islamia College University, Peshawar has been granted Charter by NWFP Government vide Ordinance No.IV of 2008 dated 20.03.2008 by upgradation of Islamia College, Peshawar. The College was founded in 1913 by relentless efforts of Nawab Sir Sahibzada Abdul Qayum Khan. The College was previously operating as a constituent unit of University of Peshawar, Peshawar. Dr Ajmal Khan has been made first Vice Chancellor of the university.
The Islamia College University will be offering education through following six faculties:
1. Faculty of Chemical Sciences
2. Faculty of Life Sciences
3. Faculty of Physical & Numerical Scs.
4. Faculty of Languages & Literature
5. Faculty of Religious & Legal Studies
6. Faculty of Management & Social Sciences
